justknapping
She's rough but solid weighing in at 287lbs. I'm over the moon, just 25 years +- and I have the anvil I have always desired. No markings, the horn I believe has been modified. Won on eBay yesterday, the gentleman I purchased from is liquidating his father's estate. He advised that his father was a purveyor of fine objects and proceeded to let me poke around some! Some nice hammerheads and lots of misc tools but alas nothing I needed to drag home. However I have been seeking an anvil such as this since I began to eye blacksmithing books in the early 90s. I've ran through several railroad track anvils and have recently used my small harborfreight anvil for the last 18 years or so it's 50lbs and has served it purpose well but man o man the rebound on this baby! Anyway sorry had to post and share some pics, I'll clean it more but my wire wheel bit the dust so I wiped it off with some oil and called it day for now. TWISTEDWILLOW
Congratulations, that’s a step up from a harbor freight for sure!! it kinda looks like a Vulcan to me, that’s definitely a weird modification to the horn, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that done to an anvil,
FatBadger
She's definitely a looker, good on you for putting her back in service.
Daswulf
Maybe a steel plate on top of the horn broke off, maybe ground off for whatever reason but it has everything you need if it has decent rebound and ring. It was definately well used and has a lot of life left for a few more generations.
TWISTEDWILLOW
It looks like it was ground or milled off to me but I could be wrong
