Veyser253
Hi all. New to blacksmithing. Been reading the posts for awhile. Unemployed due to COVID. Hanging out at home for awhile. Always thought beating steel into usefull things would be cool. I took a short class in knlfe making. Made a knife out of a horseshoe.....well a letter opener anyway. Now I’m hooked. Need all the help I can get. So looking forward to the advice from you all.
swedefiddle
Good Morning Veyser, You are in the heart of North West Blacksmith Association. Check out blacksmith.org There are a huge lot of members who live and have workshops, Seattle, Anacortes, Portland, Port Angeles, Tacoma, Vancouver Wash. over to Tri-Cities and everywhere in between. The home Blacksmith Shop is at the Fairgrounds in Longview. There are get-togethers quite often, except Covid has interupted a lot of things. I know there are NWBA members in Tacoma and area. No excuse not to hook-up, all are welcoming. Yes, I also am a member. Neil
ThomasPowers
So, read the posts on making a simple JABOD forge and the one on improvised anvils; the two of those should be able to have you beating hot metal by the weekend! (Without spending a bunch of money!)
