Durin’s Smithy
Seeking information and value of an old Austrian Anvil. It is stamped with SB and a Phoenix. I think formally also known as JEB with two Phoenix’s. Anvil has a square and round horn and upsetting block, and front mounted anvil bic. Weighs approx. 180kg, and is in good to very good condition. I think the firm was Ronsdorf, later Soligen, they produced Anvils from 1862. Also, invented the first rust resistant steel back in those times. Im not sure of manufacture date of this SB with Phoenix anvil, or what it’s worth, any information would be much appreciated. Chris C
I'm sorry, but I can't help you. But if you'd put your location in your profile, you might find out there is someone right in your neighborhood who could be of assistance. I'm sure the anvil "guru's" here on the forum will chime in any time now. Good luck on your search. Chris
ThomasPowers
Worth depends a lot on WHERE it is at; anvil prices can vary by over US$1 a pound just in the USA not counting the 100+ countries that participate here on the World Wide Web. Posting pictures is also suggest; I've personally seen anvils rated as "good" that I considered scrap.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Welcome... Also pictures of the condition and where in the world you are located are needed to even guess at value. I always suggest reading this to get the best out of IFI. READ THIS FIRST
