Does yours have an indentation on the bottom?

I have a 91# A&H that is my travel anvil; traded for it in Arkansas and then ended up moving it back to Columbus Ohio. Great brand!  I don't remember the date or serial for mine I've owned it for over 35 years and the date doesn't affect it's use any!

I also have a 410# Trenton; also made in Columbus Ohio; but originally sold to a copper mine in AZ. It was later sold to the fellow who brought it back to central OH where I traded for it and ended up bringing it to NM when I moved out here.  Lotta miles on it!

Many anvils have a "hollow" on the bottom and the shape of it can sometimes indicate what brand it was if the stampings are obscured.  So the "caplet" indentation was mainly used by Trenton; but also a few Arm and Hammers and the Hourglass indentation was used by Hey Budden and a few Trentons.  The presence of a handling hold in the base can also be indicative.
