Frosty
Welcome aboard Bugglejuice, glad to have you. If you'll put your general location in the header you might be surprised how many members live within visiting distance. Are you sitting on the ground to forge or are you maybe 3' tall and don't mind climbing the cinder block to reach the fire? You'll want to mount your anvil at the right height for YOU. Knuckle height was right in the days of strikers but not so much in these days of single operator smithies. Standing next to your anvil with your arms relaxed at your sides you want the face to be about wrist height but between wrist and knuckles is good enough to get started. Take a look in the solid fuel forge section for ideas for easy to build inexpensive and perfectly effective solid fuel forges to build. A cast iron frying pan works but lacks on many fronts. The JABOD is an excellent charcoal forge for little money. Frosty The Lucky.
