Frosty
That's nearly exactly how I handle hot stuff at the forge. EVERYTHING in the HOT area is HOT. Period. Same principle as there's NO such thing as an unloaded firearm. The ONLY safe assumption in my shop is: it's HOT, HEAVY, HARD and SHARP. unkle spike
I'm pretty careful about HOT work, I leave things on top of the forge if they are hot. I also label my vise "HOT" with a soapstone if I am using it for hot work, it seems to be the preferred place for those unexpected visitors to lean. If it is a piece that must cool without quenching I will write "hot" with a soapstone on the table and circle the piece. The tong rack on the forge may never get used, as I really needed a handle to carry it with the legs off, so I thought making it wide, may double as a tong rack. walkerironworks84
Nice forge. I like the legs, what are they made of? Did you fab them?
