ThomasPowers
I've always loved the ebony that comes out totally black. Only suggestion I would have would be silver pins, (nickel silver, stainless, sterling silver, white brass, etc)
Daswulf
Neat pattern and it etched really well. What were the alloys used?
JimmyE
The only pin material I had was brass so that is why it is, you can't see it in the picture but there is a little brown in the wood is some places. This is 10- 1x5 inch band saw blade and 10 banding metal, drawn out, cut into 3 pcs, and welded again. Was going to cut again but was running out of material and didn't want to get it too thin. Etched in 100% muriatic acid.
HammerMonkey
I actually think the brass looks good as an accent. Otherwise it would be very monochromatic. Very nice pattern. It looks very well balanced. I bet it is comfortable in the hand.
ThomasPowers
Stamp/carve your initials in the pins?
JimmyE
I made a touchmark some time ago and keep forgetting to use it. I had not thought about putting it on the pin, I may try it.
ThomasPowers
You can get quite small letter stamps and the pins are usually soft enough to stamp. Do have a backer for the other side though. If the curves are strong having someone hold the blade and "balance" the pin on the backer can help
JimmyE
I thought about that and was going to ask, Thanks
