October 16, 20178 yr Hi all, I'm new here and a new smith as well. I've taken a few classes and just purchased a forge, anvil, and some basic tools. I'm in SE Massachusetts near Plymouth and wondering if there is a good, reasonably priced source for coal around here. Any recommendations?
October 17, 20178 yr Look for your closet aubuchon hardware store. They carry bituminous coal. 12 dollars for a fifty pound bag.
October 17, 20178 yr Really? every Aubuchon hardware I've ever been to had bituminous coal. Then again the Aubuchon hardware I go to is the same store that the New England School of Metalwork get theirs. Make sure that they order pea coal.
