October 2, 20178 yr Saw this one at an estate sale cross town; decided it wasn't worth the drive; but now it's on my side! only US$450 for this "very great collectors piece" Also advertised as being from the 1800's where the England dates it to after 1900 according to Anvils in America
October 2, 20178 yr So... now on yer side of town. Does that mean you bought it for $450 ? Surely you jest. Dave
October 3, 20178 yr Author Considering I bought a rarer (a Powell), larger, MUCH better face, heel less anvil for US$40 once I only inquired about it for curiosity sake. I rather liked the wording of the ad: "Selling my Peter Wright 1800s anvil very great collectors piece to own" Lets see it is a PW; but is not from the 1800's not in anyway a collectors piece and as of last weekend it wasn't theirs... With the rise in anvil prices I might go $50 on it to pass on to a beginner at the same price...
October 3, 20178 yr Gotta love anvil descriptions. Rare, collectable, great condition...for the age. My favorite all time... auction site online E something, from a smoke free home. N.N.F. Beautiful, Manchester, Michigan. USA
October 4, 20178 yr Author The poor is that it's been left to rust when there is still a generation or two of life left in it! "Smoke Free Home"---call the authorities, it sounds like anvil abuse to me! (unless they are using propane or an induction forge ...)
