Keen12a Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Hey all, been lurking here for a while, figured I'd introduce myself, name's Jared. I haven't done much of anything regarding blacksmithing but I'm looking forward to getting started. I've got my grandfather's anvil that I found buried in the back of a shed and a little charcoal forge made from a stainless bowl, some very simple homemade refractory cement and a electric air pump. It seems to work quite well. I've plans to build a propane forge once I have some time and experience. Anyways it's a pleasure to be on this page and I look forward to continue to read all the great information on here. Quote
swedefiddle Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Good Morning, Welcome! there is quite a strong group in Saskatoon area. Western Canadian Blacksmith Guild, Saskatoon. I know it isn't close to Weyburn, but there are members from all over Sask. Neil Quote
Frosty Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Welcome aboard Jared, glad to have you. We LOVE pictures and would like a gander at your Grandfather's anvil and a couple shots of your charcoal forge. Maybe one of it empty and cold so we can see how you put it together and one of it heating a piece of steel or cooking a burger. You're sounding like you're going to fit right in here. Know any good jokes? Frosty The Lucky. Quote
