May 3, 20179 yr it's a western style curb bit. fairly low port, moderate shanks, and purchases that are average length. not a very harsh bit. still in common use.
May 3, 20179 yr Author Thank you tubalcain2. I agree with all the above but was thinking it might be Mexican. I am not a collector so dont know anything about values. Is it worth anything more than $35 or $50?

May 4, 20179 yr I have a large number of bits many similar in design as this one and used some with the last of our horses. Value? other than the new ones I bought for certain horses most came to me at $0 to $20. Mexican? In my area it wouldn't add anything to the value.
May 4, 20179 yr Certianly looks Mexican to me although not particularly well made. It's still a useable bit. Tough to say but I'd guess the inlay is nickel silver. You might fetch $45-50 to the right person but $30-$40 is more realistic. Are there any maker stamps on the inside?
