Patterson Forge
Picked this up at an estate sale. Ten inch top opening. Rods were holding it to roof. McClary is on bottom ridge. I believe it's made of cast iron.
Daswulf
I wonder what the hole in the side was for? perhaps someone vented their wood/coal burner into it?
notownkid
That would be my guess as well.
Patterson Forge
The side panel comes off leaving what looks like an opening on some riveting forge hoods. The bottom flange has a groove on the underside that appears to allow it to sit on the rim of a riveting-style shallow pan forge. I have tried finding more info online with no success. Daswulf
Oh I see, so it would sit On a round rivet forge and that's the access but someone turned it into a hanging hood and made the modification. Interesting.
mutant
I think it might be part of a farrier's forge. They were small forges with a small opening. The piping was narrow 6-8 inches.
