September 14, 20169 yr Hello Everyone, first posting for me. Thanks to all for the wealth of information shared here. Frosty posted something about rope and hammer and bungee cords... I think I can work with this. I tried it out with a flatter today. Finally, that third hand.
October 26, 20169 yr I made something very much like that several decades ago when I started, thinking it would help me draw down stock faster. What actually happened was my leg got tired instead of my arm. No real speed increase. BUT I discovered that I could hold the stock, and a top tool, and still smack things. Very useful if you are interested in doing more than squeezing a bar of steel into a slightly smaller bar of steel.

The alternative, of course, is some manner of hold-down to free up a hand for holding your hammer.
