Side view?

I made something very much like that several decades ago when I started, thinking it would help me draw down stock faster.  What actually happened was my leg got tired instead of my arm.  No real speed increase.  BUT I discovered that I could hold the stock, and a top tool, and still smack things.  Very useful if you are interested in doing more than squeezing a bar of steel into a slightly smaller bar of steel.

That's what's interesting me right now. The alternative, of course, is some manner of hold-down to free up a hand for holding your hammer.
