George Geist
Very cool film. Last company to be hand making axes to supply the lumbermen in Maine. If I ever see one someplace I'll sure buy it.
will52100
Great video, seen it before but had to watch it again, glad it was recorded. Would love to have one of those pieces of history.

Heelerau
A fascinating look at old time manufacture. What a pity it could not survive the modern economy, now days I bet there would be a market for these axes.
Greebe
I have always liked this video. Think I recorded a copy about 6 years when it first was uploaded. My favorite part as a pipe smoker and blacksmith is at 5:02 when he lights his pipe with the hot axe head after it came out of the forge, and before he starts hammering. Classic! Benona blacksmith
The spring hammer with the snow block off set and a bottom die/drift(?) thing to forge the poll was crazy!!!!
jlpservicesinc
Cool right.. One of those custom things.. Some of the power hammer makers used to sell a part that was attached to the power hammer for welding of wagon tires.. It looks to me like they adapted one of those to this machine. Or figured out how to make their own adaption. I'm often surprised even now how little it can take sometimes to move that metal to that just right spot if done correctly.
