Nelcer
Hey All! I have not started blacksmithing, but I an interested in doing so. I have to finish my PhD first and I have 2 more years to go. After that, I am going to move back home to Pittsburgh and try blacksmithing as a hobby. I took a one day class with Aaron Cergol last year and we made a camping hatchet together; I was hooked from that point on, but I live in an apartment now and have neither the time nor the space to really get into it. I have a quick question for you who are far wiser. When I get to Pittsburgh in 2 years, what is the likelihood that a local blacksmith would take me on as a striker. I have a lot of experience with sledge hammers and can hit fairly hard. It seems that serving as a striker would be a good way to get a foot in the door. Does this make sense to you all? ThomasPowers
I'd ask the Pittsburgh blacksmithing group that question.

Nelcer
ThomasPowers, thank you for the suggestion. JME1149 has already contacted me. The road appears to be well paved. It is too bad I have to wait a while to walk down it. Thank you all!
