Frosty
This is probably been discussed in a thread I can't find so I'll put it out there. Our club is undergoing a growth spurt and we're upping our meeting schedule from quarterly to bi-monthly. We have a lot of new members some pretty young. We hold meetings in various member's shops, those with the room. Well, I realized last meeting some folk were working at the anvil without basic PPE and have brought a set of club rules about safety be written and enforced. BAD things still happen, no matter how careful you are and who ever's shop we're in, their home and possessions could end up auctioned to cover damages. My question being. Do your clubs carry insurance as the club? How do you cover events, demos, etc? This is unknown country for me. Frosty The Lucky.
Fatfudd
Our group- NM Artist Blacksmith Association, carries insurance thru one of the major carriers. It isn't terribly expensive as I remember but very necessary. It covers all of our events. If you want go to our website- http://nmaba.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?sl=472244841 and ask. matto
Our club insurance only covers non members and non member sites. Like when we demo at a museum. Agent states if we are members we know the risk.
