January 13, 201610 yr I picked up a post vise for 125 dollars at an antique store and it happened to have no washers. I am hoping I can find someone with a scrap vise and buying it for a decent price
January 13, 201610 yr Are you willing to pay for international shipping? If not posting at least the country you are in might help. However most folks I know go to an auto mechanic and pick up a thrust bearing from their scrap pile.
January 13, 201610 yr Good Morning Tate, What do you mean it doesn't have any 'Washers'? Do you mean "Thrust Washers"? "Thrust Bearing"? Washers to use when bolting it to your Bench? Washers and Dryers? Not trying to be a jerk, you just need to be specific!! Is it painted Blue? It will be no good if it is painted Red, might have to send it to me!!! LOL Neil
January 13, 201610 yr There is usually only one washer on a post vise. Have a look at this 2001 article by James Melchior and Peter Ross in Anvil Magazine on repairing leg vises. It describes the different types of washers, forged and cast, and demonstrates how to make a forged one. As a newbie, you would probably need some help doing this level of forging but it is what blacksmiths do. Let us know how it progresses. - Doug
January 14, 201610 yr Author I have found a washer and it is fixed now. I found one in a scrap pile at a scrapyard. Thank you for your help
January 14, 201610 yr I have read that a throw out bearing from a car's clutch assembly would also work. As new as I am I have no personal experience with this.
