School&Steel
Hey guys, I'm looking to forge myself a wakizashi from a w1 drill rod. The problem is I don't know what size diameter rod I should get to make one. Just so you know I am an amateur, but experienced blacksmith so I have no problem using up to 1.25" diameter rods. Thanks! Steve Sells
what diameter was your last blade made from?
School&Steel
This is my first blade made from a w1 drill rod (or any type of rod at all). I am expecting the thickness to be around 1/4".
Stormcrow
Based on knives I've forged from 3/4" round 5160, that size should give you enough material for a waki.
