RedTail
Cut almost in half then broke off with vise grips(not really broke, more like peeled). Is it wrought iron? Edited August 17, 2015 by RedTail
Charlotte
Matches the looks of the piece that I found at an old corral here in Louisiana.
ThomasPowers
Oh yes; "green stick break" is a classic sign. Looks fairly coarse; too.
arkie
Yep, that's wrought iron. The fibrous texture/stringers are a clue. Get a piece of mild steel, cut it halfway through and bend it similarly...you'll see a fine grain/crystalline structure instead of fibers.
