July 18, 201511 yr I have a solar charged car battery for my led shop lighting and was wondering if this 12v blower would work for a 10 to 12 inch ribbon burner.http://m.grainger.com/mobile/product/DAYTON-Blower-2C646I have read that 5 inch water column pressure would be sufficient but am not sure of the coversion of SP to wc.
July 18, 201511 yr The flow rates are given at a range of discharge pressures and I'm fairly sure the value of 148 CFM is against 0.500" water column of Static Pressure.Basically, it will develop something over 1/10th of the pressure you have read would be sufficient. Probably not a lot over.
July 19, 201511 yr Probably not. Squirrel cage blowers generally do not develop pressure. You will need a blower that will develop pressure such as the smaller blower at www.kayneandson.com
July 19, 201511 yr If 12v is important try a mattress, rubber boat, etc. inflater. they put out a good amount of air at enough pressure to make a 6 man raft tight and you see them at garage/yard/etc. sales for a couple bucks all the time.Frosty The Lucky.
July 21, 201510 yr Nautilair has some 12 VDC combustion blowers. www.ametektip.com They are good fans, they have variable speed control and are designed for combustion applications. They are pricey though and can be difficult to source.
July 21, 201510 yr I would wonder how long a mattress blower that's designed for 5 minutes of use every few weekends in the summer would last being run for 3 hours at a time.
