January 12, 201511 yr Someone is selling this on ebay, they are presumably dyslexic considering their spelling of fly press. However their spelling error means it doesn't turn up when someone searches "fly press" so it might go for cheap. Could someone more knowledgeable verify that it is indeed a fly press? I am no expert at fly presses but I have only seen them with a solid cast iron frame while this one has what looks like a table that rides up and down.
January 12, 201511 yr screw press at best not a fly press. Looks like it was used to press out bearings to me.
January 13, 201511 yr FlyPress has a 3 or 4 start thread (that is 3 or 4 threads that start at the same time). This causes the ramp of the thread to be quite steep, little rotation = lots of movement. Add a heavy flywheel to the mix = LOTS of energy in a little motion. I would guess that the thread on your picture is a one start thread. Neil
