Frosty Posted September 18, 2023 Share Posted September 18, 2023 80% is the high side of okay and if you're dinging it up you are either working too cold or it's not so hot an anvil. If you want a more precise rebound height do it from the 10" mark on a ruler and read the rebound as a %, no need to estimate. I've watched too many guys over estimate the rebound on their anvils and underestimate it on other folks. I'm not saying that's what you're doing but if you bring up the results of your rebound test having done it with a ruler pretty well puts paid to a potential buyer using a potential misestimation as a bargaining point. The marks are probably not what others would consider marks and nothing at all like a hammer strike. You can just tell that the anvil has been used. My daughter put a hammer strike in it, though.
