the iron dwarf
found this locally, the horn has been well abused and there is a bit of edge damage on the table marked as 3 0 4, cant see other markings on it, 3 handling holes 1.25" hardy a bit worn and I think a 5/8" pritchel. going to test it in the morning. I guess it is 340 lb. if it rebounds ok I may get it and do what I can with the horn
Nick
From the photos it doesn't actually look too bad. My big Hay Budden has a flattish spot near the cutting table, angled a bit towards the far side. I've never found it to be a problem. Some of those grooves you may be able to planish out. zero_sum
If that thing is a reasonable price it looks fine to me. In negotiation I would be shocked by the abused horn and the general rusted state but internally I'd be happy out haha. I wish I had an anvil that big and intact. Mine doesn't have a heel from where the hardy would have been (abused by a previous owner, my unlces, good guys but xxxx...).
the iron dwarf
will let you know tomorrow evening, most of mine are smaller, about 1 cwt. I have a 170lb fifth foot anvil as well it is not in bad condition
VaughnT
Yea, I'd jump all over her if the price was right. Not too shabby, but with just enough "wrong" that you can probably talk the seller down a bit.
