Can anyone identify the name brand/manufacturer of this anvil?

Featured Replies

This is about a 175 pounder, with no markings and has two pritchel holes and one hardy. Looked all over and no other holes or ways to identify. Thanks for any thoughts or ideas on the name brand of this anvil.

I think its a Trenton. If it were a Hay Budden, there would be an hour glass shaped indent on the underside of it. Trenton would have a capsule indentation possibly but not always. Any pictures of the bottom?

No bottom pics as I wasn't allowed. Goes up for auction tomorrow. Would no makings make it less valuable ?(keeping in mind that valuable is relative to each individual).

A good cleaning would probably reveal the trenton name. I looked on the net and saw several anvil's identical to that one and they were labeled trenton.

Am I ok to assume a ferriers anvil will be ok for my blacksmithing needs? If so hope I get a reasonable crack at it at the auction.

A farriers anvil is better than no anvil. The older ones are good, takes a little getting use to the wider horn but I wish I still had my centar kolshawa.

I believe john nailed it. Hay Budden clip horn farriers anvil from around 1912. Thanks to all that replied!
