January 9, 201412 yr It looks to essentially be a Clay Spencer style treadle hammer. The vertical adjustment has been modified from the original plans and apparently this smith liked working only from the sides looking at the treadle.

January 11, 201412 yr I paid $300 for the one I bought about five years ago. It was very similar to this one, but this one looks better built than the one I bought. I used mine for three years, made minor alterations, produced thousands of dollars of iron work with it, and the sold it for what I bought it for.
January 12, 201412 yr I picked one up a few years ago for $400 including 4 sets of dies. I have seen people asking $1000.
