rthibeau Posted September 4, 2007 Share Posted September 4, 2007 making or forging a hand hammer isn't hard.......just form it to the shape you want, put an eye hole in it and attach the handle. ThomasPowers Posted September 4, 2007 Share Posted September 4, 2007 If you are just starting out I might suggesting punching the eye first as that's the most difficult part and if you mess it up you don't have to throw away all the other shaping work. Pre-drilling a "guide hole" for the punch or slitter usually helps a lot to get the hole nicely centered---as does rotating the piece in the forge to make sure the heat is even on both sides.
