An English Rose...

Once years ago i saw something like this, and thought i must do that some day.....   :rolleyes:

 

 
 So this evening saw me in the garage for an hour or two........

 This one is pretty lame, but I'll definitely do some more, especially with Christmas fast approaching!   :blink:   Where has the year gone?   :)

Pretty sure that is copper, it has that fire scale look on top of the cast iron anvil/vise. Then it looks like he sandblasted it clean, which actually looks more like the velvety texture of real rose petals. Interesting indeed!

 

You can get some interesting pink and purple hues by dipping HOT, clean copper or brass in a solution of borax in water.

 

Or, just taking a torch and heating it to get the oxidation colors to run. Try any new technique on some scrap first.

 

When cool and dry, protect the finish with some clear acrylic spray paint.
