My buddy royce came over this afternoon and I instructed him on how to make tongs.I marked out the jaws, boss, and reins;I then forged one half of the tongs while he watched and in between my heats he forged his half.I didn't know how they would come out with two different people workin on one set of tongs.post-25948-0-58475200-1380335889_thumb.jpost-25948-0-50214500-1380335916_thumb.jpost-25948-0-28897200-1380335947_thumb.jpost-25948-0-92549000-1380335976_thumb.jpost-25948-0-43985400-1380335999_thumb.j
I think they came out great!!

My advice to guys making their first set of tongs is to measure and mark the lengths of the jaws, boss, and reins. This will make sure your two tong blanks proportions are the same, this is a good thing :)

I like this. On the flat jawed tongs, the one to two inches or so of the rein adjacent to the rivet boss has a curve thus moving the reins away from each other and at the same time, parallel to each other when in use, and this helps.

Sayings and Cornpone

A woman rushed up to famed violinist Fritz Kreisler after a concert and cried:

"I'd give my life to play as beautifully as you do."

Kreisler replied, "I did."
