ThorsHammer82
here are some pictures of the stuff I picked up at a local rock quarry from their scrap pile. one is a rock anvil from one of the rock crushers, and the other is a different type of rock anvil that will act as a post anvil. I'll hit them with a wire wheel tomorrow and see how they clean up. they both weigh in the 70-90+ lbs range. http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37487-it-followed-me-home-anvil-type-item/ http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37486-it-followed-me-home-post-anvil/
Everything Mac
That second one looks rather good. Indeed they both look to be very useful. I'll be interested to see how they hold up. Andy
njanvilman
If they can take repeated impacts of hard rocks for years, I am sure they will hold up fine with soft, hot steel. No one live long enough to ever wear out most of this stuff, if used correctly.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
Nice score there! The round one even has possibilities for a tire hammer build.
Oregon Duck
Very nice find. It looks better than my newly acquired RR Anvil. I'll get some pics on later.
ThorsHammer82
I'm very excited about my finds. and I'm even more excited that I get to actually test them out tomorrow. at least until my small stash of coal runs out.
ThorsHammer82
The first projects on my new "anvil" a couple of bottle openers. Not perfect, but hey for someone who's only spent about 3 hours swinging a hammer so far with nothing but the internet as a teacher, I'm happy with them. http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37497-first-fuctional-projects/ http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37498-bottle-openers/ http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/image/37499-side-view/
