Solano
Very nice Frank, what size material did you use?
Frank Turley
I used 3/8" x 1", shouldered for the boss and, drew down the jaw to 3/8" x 7/16" x 6.1/2". The end is then tapered and scrolled. The bar then turned over on edge and the boss completed on the far radiused edge of the anvil. Drew back about 3" and scarfed for the rein and used 7/16" round for the forge welded reins. The reins were then flattened a little cold on the LG. I normally bend the reins for a couple of inches adjacent to the boss. This gives me parallel reins about 2" apart (outside measurement), and the tongs hang up nicely on the rack. It gets rid of the straight rein/boss scissor appearance. I bent away from the first shoulder at the far anvil edge causing the shoulder to somewhat disappear. The second bend is done near and far, on the anvil. The overall length is 19 1/4".
