eric sprado
Local antique dealer told me about these only half an hour from home. Unusual because it is an hour drive for me just to get to town!! Vise with brass accessories is 6 3/4" and weighs 140#. The other is 6 1/4" and weighs 110#. both are Columbia Vises . ThomasPowers
If that's a brass screwbox then it's probably a replacement. Not a problem if well made and does add some class to a nice vise! I'm in the midst of installing a couple of vises---adding a large post vise to a workbench with a small one already and adding a small postvise to a different workbench with a large one already. Will bring my mounted and usable vises to 5 in the shop. I still need to bury and concrete in a structural sq tube to be able to mount a removable large postvise in the middle of the shop floor for jobs requiring lots of runaround space. eric sprado
I don't think the screw box is after market. I've seen a few of them over the years and they seem like original equipment.
