Welding a Tools Steel Top to a Cast Iron Anvil

Thank you for all of the advice.
I will be taking a trip to the scrap yard with my Dad next time he goes.
I Will be looking to make something like the brazeal stlye someone suggested.

but with a base welded onto the bottom so it is more stable. Maybe I can even find suitable piece for a horn.

Great but don't get hooked on a certain style and pass up lots of great anviloid scrap because it's not exactly like the piece someone else used---(Jock mentions that after he built the junkyard hammer he would get calls form people wanting to know "exactly what engine block he used" when the whole idea was to use whatever you could scrounge on the cheap locally!)

The bywords are: steel, heavy, compact Lots of dozer and oilfield equipment has chunks that fit the bill, check the bone yards of implement dealers too!
