EdR
Hello in new to the group. I am a knife maker and i just found a forge that is "farm fresh" just out of a barn in central wisconsin. It appears to be a Canedy-Ott . It has a Challenge blower on. I just bought on Sunday and it is up and running on Monday. The drive leather belts were gone so i had to make new ones, and i gave it a good wire brushing and the fan pumps really good !! Its amazing what a little TLC,Elbow grease and some WD40 will do. Can anyone help me with its age and value and hood design. I will use it to forge Damascus steel. Here are some pictures Thanks Ed Rottinger Iron River Knife Works
ThomasPowers
You size your billets for the size of the forge. That one is quite small for the purpose; more suited for demo's and displays.
EdR
I have forged billets anywhere from 14 to 18 inches long in a forge that was smaller than this one. Any Idea of the age???
Frosty
Welcome aboard Ed, glad to have you. If you'll put your general location in your header you might be happily surprised to find out how many folk here on the forum live within easy visiting distance. It'll also save us old farts from having to rely on our memories of who lives where when on road trips and wanting a tasty snack or comfy place to nap. Can't say how old your forge is but I'd guess it's no newer than early mid 20th cent. Frosty The Lucky.

Paul Crosby
It looks like the Challenge Forge 4C. The link below is a old catalog that shows it. The handle is a little different and the back shield is missing. I'm new and learning myself. http://www.roseantiquetools.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/no.8canedy8.11mb.pdf
