MRobb Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Hello. I just tried my first cowboy ( or any ) hat. I messed up and dinged the front, but otherwise I am happy with it. Comments and critiques welcome. Thanks for looking. Mitch Quote
Ridgewayforge Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Nice work! THe dings on the front give it a "fresh off the trail" look. How big is it? Quote
MRobb Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Thanks! It started out at 3" in diameter. I'm definitely going to have to make more. :) Mitch Quote
CurlyGeorge Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Good job, Mitch. Boy, looks like you used pretty heavy metal for that hat. I use some 18 ga sheet on mine. Works pretty well but you have to take it easy on the depression or you'll break thru. Looks good. I agree that the marks on the front don't detract at all. :) Quote
MRobb Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Thank you CurlyGeorge. Yea, the material was a bit thick for this. It's 1/8" thick. I liked it though. I didn't have to worry so much about punching through. Mitch Quote
2Tim215 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 That came out nice. Must give it a go oneday. Quote

ThomasPowers Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I once made 60 or so from real copper pennies for our church's cowboy dinner dance and what I noticed was that the more character they had the better they looked... Quote
CurlyGeorge Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 WOW Thomas. Would you share with us how you did them with pennys, please? That sounds pretty cool. Did you thin the penny first and did you heat or form them cold? Thanks. :) Quote
