May 31, 201214 yr So I got a fun one last weekend, I was asked to replicate the hadles from the movie dead mans chest for the chest like the one used in the movie by an actor who plays Jack Sparrow. (Does it as well as the original at least. here is a pic of my handle based on the picture sent to me.http://i1254.photobu...pg?t=1338468761
May 31, 201214 yr So I guess that it flips up and is stayed at right angle to the chest for use... but why the collar in the handle center? Interesting design!
May 31, 201214 yr I like everything about it. Very nicely done, and looks like it will last for centuries.
May 31, 201214 yr Looks great!!!! Nice work. Not sure what the handle in the movie chest looks like but that is some nice work you have put out there.
May 31, 201214 yr Author @ Bigfootnampa The picture of the one sent to me had the collar on the center of the handle. I thougt at first it was just a bulge where thebar was drawn down or upset depending on your preference but on closer examination it was a collar. So purely decorative. He wanted a handle just like the one in the pic he sent me so there it is. And yes when the handle is lifted it stays at 90 degrees. It was fun to do.
May 31, 201214 yr The collar would also hold the handle away from the chest a bit. It would be easier to get your finger behind it to grab the handle. I have experienced handles that need a screwdriver behind them to get them away enough to get a good grip.
May 31, 201214 yr Thanks! Well I guess that it would also act as a sort of door knocker and make a small consistent area of contact for the handle. I'd do it different I think but I see why now... the customer is usually right! Nice practical concept, although it might be rough on other luggage stowed close to it.
June 1, 201214 yr great design with the handle staying at 90% makes carring heavy chest easy on the hands
