dickb Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Has any one ever seen a pair of tongs like this one ? found on ebay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260955853179 Looks like you could make the pierced part and several differant sized hook parts to fit differant size/shape stock Quote
Marksnagel Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I believe that I can see a rivet pin in the thumbnail pic which would be a hinge point. Or are my eyes are playing tricks on me? Quote
pkrankow Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Box joints have a pivot in them. The pivot can be nubs swaged (light duty) in on the inside or a pin. That pair has a pin, you can see the circle. Phil Quote
tomhw Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 It looks like a flush rivit in box-jointed plow tongs. Quote
Jeddly Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I was thinking of this pair of tongs the other day. What grabbed me was if it didn't have a pin, and you relaxed your 'grip', wouldn't the working ends mis-align? I also thought that you could maybe use a spherical type joint (ball and socket) with flat sides so as not to wobble left to right. Maybe just punching and pinning would be less labor intensive?
