Wood chipper teeth

Featured Replies

Friendly neighborhood tree guy gave me some broken blades from his big chipper that are really hard material. Has anyone tried working something like this into pattern welded billets? Is it even workable?

Usually an air hardening tool steel like A2, smetimes M2 or M4, VERY hard stuff, cannot forge it really.

Ive tried forging M2. Let's just say I'm saving mine for all those people who think knife making is easy. :)

Thank you, I've worked very hard at it! :) I'm actually using it in a demo scenario showing how we can damage people if we bully them. I also do martial arts demo's with the Namido Fire Team, a Christian martial arts club. I'm not all bad, I just dislike know-it-alls!

I have a personal failing that when somebody comes up to the forge at a demo and tells everybody that he knows all about blacksmithing as he has done it on a video game, I liked to hand him the soft hammer and ask him to show me something...The amusement is well worth the fuel and metal wasted and having to dress the hammer again...

Or hand them a block of steel and only say "Here's your sword"..... :)
