November 9, 201114 yr I recently scored a hand blower and a tuyere, both separate and needing a little TLC, but happy to get them as I have been patiently searching and looking and lo and behold I scored just what I need. The tuyere is one I have not seen before, it is about 14 inch by 12 inch and about 3 inch deep, in the centre is a round steel ball with 4 different hole configurations, this is turned by a handle. On the side is 'P GRIFFFITHS PATENT No 5633&10410' Improved Tuyere I have tried to upload a pic but for some reason the 'internal server error' appears, will try later. Any one know of this type
November 9, 201114 yr I have not seen this brand but there were a lot of patent forge designs made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. We know many of the well known brands but there were smaller companies that just didn't sell as many products, for whatever reason(s). So long as the blast is centered in the pot and of sufficient volume and pressure,a 12x14 unit should suffice nicely for general work.

Pictures would be nice. Sounds like a nice size firepot. Phil
January 18, 201214 yr Well, that is cool. Should work well. Different hole configurations for different shaped fires? OR perhaps different air blast volumes? FYI - You have a hand blower,a tuyere, an ash dump and a fire pot.
January 19, 201214 yr Here is an example. Table built to fit my needs. Here in the US we can buy new 3" vent pipe and adjustable elbows. I have more pics if you wish showing the hook up for the air supply. Like Thomas said, you have the guts you need. Build your table to height that you can rest long stock on anvil height if necessary. This height is also handy for fatigue.

February 20, 201214 yr Author I have recently made a table for the fire pot and as you can see have sat it in there to see how it looks, I am getting excited as it gets closer to being finished. Its a good height for me, all I need is a plate to drop inside and make a hood for it, the ball turns really well and locks into position. Just need to set up the blower and then I have the ducks guts. Tomorrow I am going to the local museum for the next go at the forge, have a few old fellas that have some good knowledge, looking forward to making a set of tongs, will keep you posted
