latvius
Very nice! do you have a picture of the tool you used to make the socket opening with?
oakwoodforge
Latvius , I just used my hammer, swage block and anvil, no special tools. Though an extra long and thin Bick would be handy, I should make one sometime soon. Jens
M. Demetrius
I bought what they said was a "spud wrench" at a junk store. It looked like about a 1 1/4 inch open ended wrench with a marlinspike at the end of the handle. I cut it, drew part of it into a spike, bent it over, and boing! a stump bick. Got the spike red, and hammered it down into the stump. Smoked like crazy for a while. When it stopped, I gave it a couple more hits to set it and it seems fairly secure for the time being. My daughter said, "Why did you need to make a handle for a stump? Where are you going to carry it?" Sigh.
Frosty
Hey, I like that in a kid. I think your duaghter and I could have some fun asking you questions. Nice approach for making a bic. Frosty
Ecart
Hey Oakwood, good looking spearhead there. I'm not ready to try one yet, but for future reference, what thickness is the material that you started with?
Bill in Oregon
Wonderful lines, symmetry and ribs. Also love your socket. I agree on the usefulness of a long, thin bick for this sort of thing.
