Jason 383
Hi all, Does anyone know much about Hensley anvils? A buddy at work picked this up at an auction for me. It's smaller than I was looking for but its steel and about the same size as RR track I'm new to blacksmithing just trying to get set up to give it a try :)
Marksnagel
Welcome to IFI Jason, I have no info on your anvil but my first anvil was a RR track. The hardest part was working around the train schedule. KIDDING! Really, as a beginning blacksmith it met my needs. As I progressed so did my choices in anvils ie, coupler knuckle and now an anvil. Enjoy your new anvil. Mark<><
eric sprado
That's the prettiest "little" anvil I've ever seen. What a find. If you get a big one and want to sell that I'd buy it a ship it to Oregon for my kid who works on small stuff and jewelry. Don't bugger up the edges! They are really nice!!! Jason 383
Hello Mark and thank you Hi Eric and thanks I will keep you in mind when I find a larger anvil.
ThomasPowers
That's *really* small for forging. Good as a travel anvil for light projects (the fastest way to money is through 1/4" sq stock!) Don't try overworking it with large stock and heavy hammer/pounding it sure is cuter than a bug though!
clinton
I can not find it in Anvils in America, no hardie or pritchel, too big to be a jewelers anvil, looks like a farriers pattern. Pretty cool indeed
RingingAnvil
That is one of the coolest little anvils I have ever seen! It has a sort of 'fighting' stance...I agree; don't ask too much of it. Best of luck working yourself into more work. Welcom to IFI. That was the funniest RR anvil joke yet....There is/was a well known blacksmith from the south named Bea Hensley. Could that be the same man who made your anvil?
