danhughes1 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 A friend of mine found a miniature aluminum anvil with his metal detector: That's a dime next to the anvil, to show you the size. Is this an actual tool, or a scale model used as a salesman's sample? Anybody seen anything like this before? Thanks for any info! A very curious item indeed. ---Dan Quote
rasklking Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Never saw one that small before! Don't know what it is, but its a neat find! Quote
CurlyGeorge Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Look on ebay. There are minatures listed all the time. They were usually salesman samples. That one is preety small!! :D Quote
fciron Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I can't see much point to an aluminum, miniature anvil as a salesman's sample. Miniature anvils are frequently made as souvenirs or just for fun. That one looks almost like it could be homemade. Being aluminum is probably a sign of recent vintage. Sure is cute, though! Quote
pkrankow Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Neat! I agree aluminum probably means it is a souvenir or a home made, possibly high school project. It looks rather carefully made by the pictures. Phil Quote
ThomasPowers Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Middle school casting project for metal shop is my guess. Quote
eric sprado Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Thomas has it! That was a really common project in Boys' Shop in the fifties ( when I was a pup)... Quote
