September 8, 201015 yr Hey I know all of y'all are "really glad" to hear this, but I have internet back at the house now so I'm back online regularly! So now I'll get to start posting weekly stupid questions for everyone to answer for the 100th time. LOL Anyway, I have my big anvil set up for use under my blacksmith trees/shop/whatever. it is working great and my buddy at the junk yard delivered me a free axle to use as hardy tool material. Since it's a 1 3/4 inch hardy hole I think I'm going to wait to make tooling until I can get a friend over here to strike for about a week. I've got a 17 year old friend over in Bowling Green that is a smith and we've been talking about spending a week together making tooling for both of us once I get my shop done. Which brings me to my shop. I've got a 20'x27' area allotted to me in our shop now. We are still working on getting siding on the shop and all that but in a month or so I should be under a roof. That will be nice, and plenty spacious. I just got back from John C. Campbell Folk School a couple weeks ago. I took a class taught by Greg Price; "Ironwork for the Home" was the name of the class. It was great and I learned all sorts of new things. I recomend JCC VERY highly! In fact, I'm heading back there for two classes back to back in two weeks. I'm taking "forge welding" for a weekend and "animal heads" for a week. In the first class I made a fire place set with a broom, shovel, poker, and stand. I incorporated different designs in each piece to maximize my learning. I need to put the finish on the whole thing and take photos of it. This weekend I have a craft fair up in Louisville at the Mellwood art center so I'm finallizing my stock for that. So it's back to the forge! Good to be back and learning!

September 9, 201015 yr Hey Dave! Welcome back! I did a class at JCCFS Aug 1-6, "Forging your ideas into reality" taught by Lucas House from Raleigh, NC. Here's a few pics of what I worked on while I was there. The new shop is really something isn't it? I was hoping to go back for the class the last week of this month but the $$$ just ain't there. I highly recommend the school as a place to spend a "vacation" week. For anyone interested their full catalog is available @ folkschool.org They did have a deal going where first time students can get $100.00 off tuition if they tell them they were recommended by an alumnus like Dave or myself.
September 9, 201015 yr Good to see you again Dave, I was wondering what you were up to. I knew it'd be something ambitious but I admit to being curious. A week at JCC is a grand opportunity. A new shop is a treat for the soul too. You deserve it all. I'm looking forward to pics and some more regular posts from you. Frosty the Lucky.

We did two just north of Louisville but didn't do well. We are doing one this weekend and I have $1400 worth of stock I'm taking! I'd be happy if I sold half! Maybe! So I need to go pack the truck!
