Hi,
Firstly i'd like to say that i really like what you've done, with both knives.
I'm very impressed.
But i'm also a bit naive when it comes to forge welding and the like, and very keen to learn.
So could someone explain to me what's that darker line near the edge, and why dean should be nervous about it?

Thanks,
Well i think i already know what that darker line is and i am not surprised that it's there, it's a failed weld. this will be ok because i am not going to use this knife because i am going to hang it on my wall. :)

It will still be plenty strong enough to use! :D

I said it would make me nervous if it wasnt heat treated already, as sometimes a weld that looks a bit suspect can open right up (split) when you quench the blade! This holds especially true if you use steels with very different levels of alloying elements. (the carbon will disapate evenly throughout the billet after a few folds)

Great looking blade!
