DUNSTAN
Treading new waters, at least for me. My brother gave me a R.R. spike with a request for a knife with a wood handle, and this is what the end result was. Still working on the sheath for a finished Christmas gift.http://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv9/dunstan88/?action=view¤t=ForgeSaturday003.jpghttp://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv9/dunstan88/?action=view¤t=ForgeSaturday011.jpghttp://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv9/dunstan88/?action=view¤t=RRspikeknife005.jpg Edited December 7, 2009 by mod07

FieryFurnace
THAT is REALLY neat looking! I love the way you made the end of the spike look like some sort of cast pommal. (SP is wrong there sorry! ) Is the handle two different slats, or is it one that had a groove cut in it to slide over one side of the tang? What did you use for rivets on the handle? Thanks and GREAT job! Dave

DUNSTAN
Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words. I have discovered a big difference from ornamental blacksmithing and knife making, due to the annealing and tempering processes. The handle is a open back piece of oak made from an old towel rack. So if I guy sent you an old towel rack and wanted a RR knife made... :)
DUNSTAN
Sorry JW, too busy with christmas gifts. And old towel racks are easy to get, but R R spikes are get harder to come by, at least ones that are not stolen...UHUM.
