What is a good table saw in the 500$-1000$ range?

Depends on what you want to do with it but my favorite portable is the Bosch. The model I linked is a newer version than mine. Of all the portables I've used (read many) this one has the best bank for the buck. And it will rip a sheet of ply closer to 24" than any other, I can't remember if it will rip @ 24" or slightly less. Most others do not.

I kinda like this grizzly Grizzly G0478 2 HP Hybrid Cabinet Saw but i'd like to know what Delta or other saw is out there.

I that case- go with a used 12" powermatic. If your looking for a new saw in that price range, I'd still choose the Bosch, no doubt. I took a look at the grizzly, thats a great price, so good it makes me wonder how well it will hold up. I'd want a test drive first. See how well the angle and hight adjust mechanisms works. The Shop Fox Aluma Classic Fence looks like a biesemeyer fence. True biesemeyer fences sell for almost half the money as the Grizzly. For comparison, A Delta unisaw is around $2000.00.

I'm in the market right now for a stationary saw and I have the Bosch. My budget is less than $1000.00. So, I'm looking used. Powermatic and Delta are basicly my choices I'd like 5HP single phase. I hoping to look at one (unless it sells) thats a powermatic 12" Oldy but goodie!

Check craigslist for a used Delta Unisaw. I have been seeing them for anywhere from 500 to 800 bucks. Powerful and last forever. Sometimes if you buy used you can get twice the tool for your money.

I *absolutely* agree. I would find a used 10 or 12 inch used Powermatic table saw. There was one on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago, for only a couple of hundred dollars. A 5hp will cut through a 2x4 even with a dull blade. Plus on Powermatic table saws the blade tilts *away* from the fence, so much less likely to pinch the work.

I have a General that I have been very happy with using on a commercial basis. My former employer has had one as the only tablesaw in the shop for about 10 years in a shop with 5-10 patternmakers. The Generals are still made here in Canada, General International are not. They are a little more money but you may be able to get one used.

Grizzly is hard to beat for the money. Look over the woodworking forums and you'll see lots of favorable responses to the quality of their stuff. Go their actual website they have unadvertised sales often.
