c497
i have a railroad track anvil that was made just like a real anvil and looks the same i guess that it is about 40lbs. and it has a bad ring to it when i hit it! does anyone know how to stop the ring or reduce it? ironstein
you could try wrapping a chain around the "base". Some people use a speaker magnet. It all depends how you have it mounted.
Rob Browne
Take a photo and post it so we can see your setup and the shape of the anvil. Then more meaningful help will be forthcoming. Cheers
GobblerForge
As Ironstein said, wrapping a chain around the waist of the anvil a time or two will absorb vibrations. Don't over tighten the chain. It works better if lose. In the pic you can see I use the lower chain to hold the anvil to the stump and the upper chain to quiet the anvil. When people ask why, I tell them it's just a mean anvil and I have to hold it back. Gobbler

Dragons lair
I hear ya. Spent more time on the holes than anything else. They make great jewelers/ Hobby anvils. 50 plus hours then find a real anvil oh well they can bury me with it. Ken
c497
if u fasten it to a sturdy surface then u can use it but i like bigger anvils! lol
Mark Emig
Put a layer of silicon gasket goop under it-let it almost dry first and clamp it down tightly-deadens a lot of noise. Mark
