July 22, 200916 yr I received word on another Anvil. She said it was hard to read the engravings, but this is what she sent me. There are some markings but the imprints may be as follows: Horn to right -- BEST OR WEST SCR.... MAY BE SCRAP 3rd line --hard to read. (?R?????fades out) Horn to left -- 0-3-20 (104 pounds) The anvil weighs 104 lbs. Here are the pics of this mystery Anvil. Any idea of a fair price?
July 22, 200916 yr Fair price IMHO around $100, it is pretty scarred up. A good working anvil, but not "pristine". IMHO, looking at the feet and shape, I believe it to be a Mousehole.
July 22, 200916 yr yeah looks like a mousehole to me . If you are hard up for a anvil maybe $225.00 , really depends on ur area some places it worth more than others.
July 22, 200916 yr When people ask *me* to make an offer I start at US$1 a pound and let them counter. $1 a pound was a going rate for decades and sometimes you can still get it!
July 22, 200916 yr well if its a moushole you cant go wrong, super hard face and nice ring. You can tell a real blacksmith used it because the of rounded edges, i think its in very good shape, go get er;)
July 22, 200916 yr Didn't I already read this in another thread? Why the duplicate post of the same information/question?
July 24, 200916 yr Author Thanks for all your input. She was asking way too much for it though, around $300. I think she was selling it as an antique and wouldn't come down on her price. Thanks again....
