July 13, 200917 yr Folks: how many of you will take the near-finished knife to the buffing wheel and cover the handles that way too? I find the buffing wheel to be dirty (dark) from the dirty buffing compound after metal work, so it stains the handles. In light of this, isn't sandpaper better for the wood handles? Thanks
July 24, 200916 yr have had the same problem so i bought a soft muslin wheel for just the wood, still leaves a slight stain somehow. huh also, not to hijack your thread, but trying to polish bolsters already on the knife, but not the handle at the same time is hard. ive tried to mask off the handle first with tape, but that only works till the tape wears through. ideas?
July 24, 200916 yr Cal-k are you using a buffing compound designed for polishing up a finished wood surface?
August 13, 200916 yr Wood that has been stabilied does not get impregnated by buffing. A white rouge on a new cotton loose buf at low to medium speed.
