The Wikipedia has a good explanation and extensive list of links to other sources. Off the top it doesn't seem like something that you would want in a hand crafted knife. chrisfrick Posted April 16, 2009 Share Posted April 16, 2009 Makes much more sense now after looking at the video--assuming they cut the knife out from the blank leaving the friction stirred section as the cutting edge.
