ChrisDial
I am totally new to the art of bladesmithing will someone please tell me the "steps" for making a blade. I have already started on a piece of metal and I would like to know what to do before I ruin a good piece of re-bar. Frosty
Don't worry Chris, you aren't going to ruin a piece of rebar, it'll be good for some basic forge practice. It isn't good for a knife so get some practice out of it. Check out the "Lessons in blacksmithing, getting started and blue prints" sections of the site for good getting started info. Bladesmithing is a specialized branch of blacksmithing and you'll need to know how to do basic forging and do it reasonably well before starting in on blades. bg7m
You might want to check out Georgia Custom Knifemakers' Guild - Meeting News - Spring Trackrock Information - News I think they have a meeting in April, might pick up some info there.
